These two classes are essentially the same, but the Math department requires Math 55 to become a math major and the CS department requires CS70 to become a CS major. So what do you do if you either
1. want to major/minor in both
2. don't know which you want to major in

Will the math department accept CS70 as a substitute for Math 55? Likewise will the CS department accept Math 55 as a substitute as CS70?

Which class do you think you learn more in? Can anyone comment on the differences between the two? thanks.

They’ve divered enough that it’s worth your time to take both of them.

There’s a lot in common, but while Math 55 focuses on teaching you how to do proof-based math, CS 70 focuses on the various sorts of theoretical CS probles.

They’re somewhat similar, but you get two very different angles on the same subject.

Take CS 70. CS department wont be very happy about you taking 55. I don’t know what the math department says; but CS 70 is more difficult than 55. I wouldn’t suggest taking both. CS 70 teaches you a lot from the math perspective too, and you’ll eventually hit the topics in upper div math anyways.
