I already got an 800 Math , but I am taking the October SAT to focus on and increase English Score . My college will take the highest score for every subject,so i don't need to get a high math score .
Some people are telling me that I have to get a high score to prevent suspicion from the CB as there would be a sharp drop , so I want someone to assure me if it is just a rumor or truth :)
I don't want to answer Math sections in order to focus my effort on English .
Please help urgently !

“ I don’t want to answer Math sections in order to focus my effort on English . ”
Does it mean you want to skip the math section???

Why would you do that? If you got an 800 on math then the math sections shouldn’t take that much effort.

I think what some people are telling you is a load of…nonsense.

Take the math section. Don’t prep for it. Just answer the questions, and you’ll do well enough to avoid suspicion.

Just take the math sections casually. Remember you already got an 800, so this score doesn’t really matter. But you should actually answer all the questions. You’ll probably be able to break a 700 without expending too much energy.

I will answer but I mean should I answer just the easy ones or answer the entire test ?
Thanks all

You might as well use the time for each section to do the best you can. Don’t WORRY about your math score, but don’t tank it either.

A less scrupulous student might think: I’ll just give the math a quick once-over and then use the time to work on English. But that is a bad idea for so many reasons:

It is cheating. If you get caught, your score will be cancelled and there goes your chance to raise your verbal score.

It will cause a weird-looking drop in your math score. The college board won’t care. But the colleges themselves MIGHT care. I’m not saying you should worry about it if your math drops to a 700 or even high 600s. But if an 800 scorer suddenly falls to a 500, it looks weird. In fact, it looks like they neglected the math sections to have extra time in verbal. Why give them anything to wonder about? Especially something that might raise character issues.

Bottom line: do the best you can in all areas and then don’t worry.

@pckeller - well said.

Ashley, this is exactly what I was trying to get across to you in our correspondence. But pckeller said it much better than I did. Listen to this advice.

I got an 800 in writing, and I’m taking the SAT in October to increase my CR (only a 680!). I’m still gonna do my best on the writing section, I’m just not gonna prep a lot for it.

Ok I will answer my math sections with my previous knowledge
Thank You
