I'm planning on majoring ion Math and Com Sci. The schools I go t accepted to are:
NYU
BU
UVa

Can someone please tell me which one is the best in academics? Which college would increase my chances of getting a great job and/or accepted to a prestigious grad school?

Short answer…any of them.

Computer science and software engineering jobs are basically based on WHAT YOU KNOW and WHAT TECHNOLOGY YOU KNOW. Where the degree is from means very little.

As far as grad school…

For thesis-based M.S…yes, GPA and school name “may” play a role.

For non-thesis/part-time/online programs…a good resume and verified employer tuition-reimbursement money can overcome GPA and school name.

Net price at each school? Student loans?

I agree with the sentiment of the others. Pick the school that costs less / is the best fit for you. All 3 will get the job done.

I haven’t received my fin aid package from UVa yet. As for the remaining two, NYU is definitely cheaper.

@GLOBALTRAVELER You said school name matters, which of these schools has the better name?

I meant that school name “may” matter as far as graduate school admissions as a FUNDED student and if one plans to stay in academia, etc.

For just getting a job in software engineering?..school name matters very little.

Having said all of that, I would personally choose NYU because: 1) I can fulfill the requirements of both a M.S. in Math and M.S. in CS with basically the same 36 credits and 2) (more shallow) NYU has the #1 ranked graduate applied math program.
