Math and Physics

How much math and Physics do you think is needed for the entire medicine education(Pre med- med school). I am really bad in math because it is a struggle. Physics I am fine but not a quality.

thank you

1 year physics
1 year math, preferably calculus, some schools want calc and stat

I'm contemplating not taking physics in high school, and taking AP bio and AP chem instead. Do you think that since many premed programs look for physics that this will hurt my chances?

well i think they'd understand that not everyone has room in their schedule to take bio, chem, physics...u know? (altho i did...somehow....). as long as u did well and didn't slack off in hs, u'll be fine, i'm sure.

what do you mean by premed program? if you're just going to do normal premed at any college, they just want you to have taken a curriculum that challenges you. i'm premed at duke and I took ap bio and ap physics but not ap chem. if you don't have ap physics it won't matter that much as long as you don't have like easy electives instead (if you're talking about a combined/accelerated program, that's different)
as for med schools, i'm pretty sure only duke and harvard require a full year of calculus. some schools don't specify math at all, and others want just two years of college math or something and some want one semester calc. Math doesn't play into the med school admissions thing as much as the sciences, but if you have a specific med school in mind you need to look at their requirements.

yeah, i just meant a general premed thing. Thanks for your input. I feel better about the decision now

general coursework for most med schools;

1 year physics
2 years chemistry (1 yr inorganic/1 yr organic)
1 year biology
1 year english (variable)
0.5 year math (variable)

¯¯¯
5.5

Is it beneficial to AP/CLEP out of any of these courses?
