Hello, I am thinking about starting a math and science club at my school. There are no activities at my school supporting these areas. I am a senior in high school and I just want students to be able to participate in a math/science related opportunity so their not completely lost for college apps focusing on a math/science major. I was wondering if anyone could provide any good circuits for math and science competitions around the Los Angeles area so that students can start going out next year.

Thank you,
Brian Kim

Look at FIRST Robotics. It is nationwide. It does take commitment and a good mentor. Many team have big name sponsors, but make no mistake, new teams win every year. FTC is a good place to start, but you would be behind the curve a bit for this season. You could have this be a learning year, follow the competition and process, with the intent of a team competing next year. I am suggesting this as an option as you state a possible goal would be to start something for future students, meaning you may not be opposed to this as a Sr.

I’m sure you will get many replies from others as well with ideas that their schools have participated in. Hopefully one will work for you.

Best of luck!
