How is the math and science department for undergraduates at this university? I'm trying to figure out a list of places to apply to that feature strong math and science programs, and I can't really figure out how to determine the strength of their programs without asking current students/people in the know. Thanks!

Vandy is strong in math in science, being an all around strong undergrad university. It’s not like top 20 but just has solid programs. If all you’re interested in is a highly ranked math/science department, Vanderbilt probably isn’t your best bet.

Thanks, I’m looking for some match colleges to apply to. I’ll be applying to Princeton, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, etc. and thought it was necessary to apply to some more realistic colleges (though Vandy is still tough to get into, no denying that).

Vandy is harder to get into than Hopkins.

There are actually several schools that are easier to get into than Vandy and have superior math/science programs.

Really? Do you know one of them, by chance?

A few that I can think of offhand- UC Berkeley, UCLA, UMich, NYU, Cornell, Northwestern, Texas, UIllinois Twin Cities UWisconsin, Georgia Tech.

Thanks, Pancaked!

Just to be clear that should have read “UIllinois, UMinnisota Twin Cities, UWisconsin”
