I just finished freshman year, and i have a question about my math and science classes... as of now my math in high school will be 9.Geometry 10.Alg2/Trig 11.Pre calc 12.Calc. I was wondering if i should do summer classes at a community college to get some of these out of the way, and take higher math. Does it really look better to have taken more math, or should i just get good grades in these classes. Same question for science, as of now i will do 9.Biology 10.AP Environmenta Science 11.Honors Chem 12.Honors Physics

well of course it will look better,
and what’s more,
you’ll have a better background when you actually go to college,
so you’ll have an advantage over the kids who never took higher math in high school

the question is how hard do you want to work

Since your school does not offer honors physics or chem., I really think you should self-study and take the AP Chem. exam at the least. This will give you good background for the ever so deadly college freshman chem. course…Also, colleges (UCB) will see that you went beyond what was offered at your school by taking AP exams on your own. In my opinion, you should stick w/ your schedule. BUT…self-study a few APs (Bio, Chem, and Physics (if you can handle it)

Your course load is a normal well-paced load.

It looks a lot like mine actually. XD

But note that if you take something like Pre-Cal over the summer than your school may not give you credit for it. You have to check on that. (Mine sure as hell doesn’t and won’t count it either so that I can move up a level. >_<)

But a year of AP Cal is pretty good. A lot of people don’t even go that far and only get to Pre-Cal or Trig and then try something like AP Stats. o.o

If your school doesn’t offer AP chem and phys… then your course laod is good. Do they offer AP Bio? If so… Double up your senior or junior year with AP Bio/Chem or Phys.
