Math at Emory

I was wondering how the math department at Emory compares to other high-end colleges. I’m interesting in studying Statistics/Applied Math.

Thank you!

@hahnny : The math dept itself would be more basic among top tier schools in terms of undergraduate education. Definitely not a super power, but if you go with Statistics and Applied math, you will be heavily associated with the Institute of Quantitative Methods which appears to be a rising star with great job and graduate school placement ability (math has it too, but QTM is much more deliberate with expanding the horizon of solidly paid options for graduates and practical learning as well as theory and incorporates a lot more CS oriented things). I think Emory would be excellent for that major.

That institute hosts much more networking opportunities and a stronger intellectual community for undergraduates than the math department.
