Math at Georgetown

I know Georgetown is an all around good school but it isn't really known for its math/ sciences. I hose GU over NYU and U of Michigan and I'll be a math major. Was that a mistake?

If you’re at a place where you can be happy and productive, then you will be better off than being at a place that may have a better reputation (which is usually based on faculty and doctoral programs, rather than undergraduate instruction) but isn’t as good of a fit personally.

Edward Witten was awarded the Fields Medal in 1990 - he went to Brandeis for undergrad, which isn’t exactly known for its math programs (only one other American has won it since then, a Williams College alum). William Thurston, another American holder of the Fields Medal, got his bachelors at New College of Florida.

What do you want to do with your math degree?

I’m going to do a 3-2 program doing 3 years at GU for math and 2 at Columbia for financial engineering. The pursue either law or graduate study in computational finance.
