Does anyone know if the D116-D117 sequence is easier, as easy, or harder than M025? Im in M025 and I am not doing that great. Math has never been my strong point. I know 116-117 are related to finite. I took a prep course for finite and got a B. Should I drop M025 since im doing so badly and take that sequence next year?

Well, there's two parts to Finite--Probability and Matrices/Linear Programming.

Personally I always considered that stuff easier than regular math--but then I was at one time a math major and had great SAT math scores--so only you can tell me if that stuff is easier or tougher for you.

On the other hand, M025 is all logarithms, polynomials, and exponential equations, which can be quite difficult and confusing for the average person also.

In general, I'd say that D116 and D117 are probably slightly easier--and therefore my advice would be get out of M025 if you really are having a very tough time. But then I don't know what you like as well as you--and I don't know how good or bad your M025 instructor is. Only you can make the final call.

Good luck.

P.S. Here's the link to the course descriptions. See if reading through each of the three course descriptions helps.

Yeah I was having problems with M025, one because I havent had an algebra related course in over a year and two i was never really good at it. I did take a finite prep course M18 and I got a B in that class but when I went to M118 I thought the pace was too fast, and I didnt really like the professor either. D116-D117 sounds like its right in the middle between fast and slow so Im hoping Ill do well in it next year. If its anything like M18 I should be fine I think.
