At my school, there are three levels of math for every type of math. Using Algebra 2 as an example, the three levels would be called Algebra 2 Honors, Algebra 2 Enriched, and Algebra 2. As one would assume, honors is the highest, and then it goes down from there. I'm not particularly good at math, but one year ahead of most of my grade in math (because of middle school but that's not important). Pretty much, the difference between Algebra 2 Enriched and Algebra 2 is HUGE at my school. Kids fail the first marking period of Enriched, then drop down to Essentials and cost to an A. Additionally, some people claim that it doesn't show up on your transcript if you are in Enriched or regular. There's no way that this is true right? They are two entirely different courses with different midterms, finals, textbooks, teachers etc.

How would we know what your transcript will show? You need to ask your GC about that.

From what you wrote, it looks like if you drop down to regular math at your high school, you’ll end up paying for it when you get to college and struggle in freshman calculus due to inadequate preparation, or have to take a remedial algebra and precalculus course in college.
