I'm currently in 9th grade and taking Honors Geometry. As for college, I want to work in brain & cognitive science research, so I don't think an extremely advanced level of math would benefit me much. In 10th grade I'll be taking Algebra II (Honors), but I am unsure of what course I would be taking 11/12th grades. Here are my choices:
Adv. Functions and Modeling --> Intro to College Math
Pre-Calculus (H) --> Intro to College Math/AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus AB/BC, or AP Statistics

Just as a note, the Functions and College Math courses aren't Honors or AP.

It seems like taking Pre-Calculus would give you more options your senior year. Also, I think that a strong background in math could greatly benefit your research endeavors. It certainly won't hurt you to be well-versed in the wonders of mathematics.

In this case, it probably doesn't matter much (you don't seem to be too interested in math or anything). It won't affect you significantly so just go with whatever you feel like...

And you're in 9th grade in the beginning of the schoolyear and are worrying about what to take 2 years from now?

calculus is pretty standard. if you decide in college that you're more interested in the neuroscience end of cogsci, you'll also need calculus for grad school.

AP Calc could benefit you in two ways...
1) If you're applying to a selective college, it's kind of standard as people have said. Also science and math are associated, so if you're sure about what you want to do AP Calc would relate more than say an English course.
2) If you really do not like math, less selective colleges will give you the AP Calc credit and you won't have to take math at all in college.

Haha, this reminds me of my frosh year, I planned out all my classes throughout high school, and all of the classes I would take at colleges during Junior and Senior year...

And no, Calc and Stats would not be insane at all, it's easily doable.....Frankly, Stats is one of the easiest APs out there...

AP Stats and Calc at the same time would be quite easy. I know a girl who did that (on top of taking AP Lang, Lit, and Physics) and she got a 5 on both exams. Stats really is easy (I took it sophomore year...first AP class I ever took and it really wasn't all that bad...kinda made me think all APs were that easy...I was very wrong.)

You remind me of myself. I planned all of my hs classes freshman year too. They have changed a little over the years but still...I like to be organized.
