Math Class

I am a freshman and most freshman take geometry, but I was put into Honors Algebra 2 with Trigonometry. I want to go into a science or math field, but that class was too difficult so I dropped down to Algebra 2 with Trigonometry enhanced. Will this greatly hurt my chances of going to an Ivy League?

It shouldn’t matter as long as the math sequence results in an AP math class (Calculus AB at a minimum or Statistics) as a senior.

No.

What will greatly hurt your chances at any of these schools that reject 90%+ of applicants is hitting the submit button.

@skieurope
… I might have to use that… That’s really funny…

@kathrynfaith don’t worry about it and do the best you can.

@skieurope umm ok…

@Hamurtle In my senior year I don’t know what I would be taking, because in my junior year i would be taking AP Calculus AB or even AP Calculus BC. I would be two levels above my peers, so do you have recommendations for what math I should take in my senior year?

I only took up to precalculus sophomore year and got admitted to UCR. I just had to do one more math class. But the math levels depend on your major. Honestly, it doesn’t matter much unless it’s AP and you pass the exam.

What is available to you? The logical next course would be multivariable calculus. But you’re a freshman; it’s too early to think about your senior courses. Focus on getting strong grades in your current classes.

@skieurope OK, thank you, I have to stop stressing about college already. I’m not really sure about what is available to me after that.
@orangemo8 Oh wow! Thank you!
@Knowsstuff I will try my best, thank you!
