Your progression for the next four years would look something like this:
Algebra 1 -> Geometry -> Algebra 2 -> Pre-Calculus
Some districts switch geometry and algebra 2, but this is generally standard. If you want more advanced coursework in these classes, you could request to be put in honors.
Thank you… There is no way I could take Calculus though? Just pre-calculus?
@bringbacksummer you could double up on geometry and Algebra 2 if you really wanted to get ahead in math.
How did you do in pre-algebra?
If you got A’s, then talk to your Guidance Counselor about what year can you double up on Math so you can get to Calculus by Senior year. Sometimes schools only let you double up in a certain year so find out when that is…or look online and see if your HS has a curriculum guide that spells it ou.
Try to be in the honors version of the classes if you can.
If I were you I would set it up like this (if possible):
Freshman: Algebra I
Sophomore: Algebra II AND Geometry
Junior: Pre-Calculus
Senior: Calculus
Is it possible to take Geometry during the summer between Freshman and Sophomore year?
Best option is to take Alg 2 and Geometry together if you want to have Calculus senior year. You need a good foundation in geometry to do well in Pre-Calc and Calculus and taking it online/over the summer might not ensure that, unless you have some substantial supplement, like a tutor, to help you.
