I started off freshman year taking Algebra I, sophomore year taking Algebra II and Precalculus, and am taking Geometry over the summer. My counselor gave me to choice of either going into AB or BC Calculus junior year, meaning I’ll be taking Multivariable Calculus/Integral Equations senior year. Is that wise? Should I just take AB junior year and BC senior year??
It depends on your math skill level. If you are naturally talented at math, you should take BC junior year, and multivariable calc in senior year. However, if you don’t understand math very easily, take AB junior year and BC senior year.
I agree with @raventhemage …it also depends on how your HS will let you take AP Calc…can you do AB or BC like that? Also, why did you accelerate your math classes if you don’t want to accelerate all the way?
Well, taking calculus still means one understands math easily.
How happy are you about being accelerated? What type of field/major are you thinking of for college?
Do you currently get 8 hours of sleep and have time to devote to EC’s?
Um, you took algebra 2 and pre-calc in the same year???
Yeah, I did that on a whim- I started to panic about college one day and enrolled in Precalculus at my community college the next day.
Honestly, I started to get better in math when I took calc. Calculus 1 made it easy for me to understand math.
