math classes

Last year in 9th grade i was taking algebra 2 w/ analysis and signed up for the AP calculus AB and BC exam. I received 5’s on both. This year, in 10th grade, I am taking precalculus w/ analysis. Is it recommended for 11 grade that i skip AP calculus?

Also, my brother right now is in 9th grade taking algebra 2 w/ analysis. He already understands all the math in precal. Is it recommended that he takes the test and skips the class and take AP calculus in 10th?

Thank for your help.

You, my friend, are a liar.

From the college board website:

You may not take both:

Calculus AB and Calculus BC in one year

Also, if you were that good at math that you can ace Calc BC with only having algebra, I'm sorry, your school definitely would be skipping you levels. So kindly stop lying all over the boards, thanks.

ohhhh busted...

ummm, yea, I've got to concur with prettyfish

Uh... Straight from the College Board's website:
You may not take both Calculus AB and Calculus BC in one year

In case I misunderstood you, you really need to slap your guidance counselor and everybody at your school who is implicated in forcing you to take pointless classes. Skip it. Do something productive with your time. Advise your brother to do the same with his troubles. If this isn't possible, I would suggest passing your time in class working on competition problems (old AIME stuff, that sort of thing. goldmine: http://www.kalva.demon.co.uk/). That's what I did when I was forced to take math classes in which I already knew the material. I've found that math competition problems are very helpful in teaching you how to better apply the material you already know.

Man - I got beat out of busting him! Hey, at least I gave him the benefit of the doubt though ;-).

why do people lie about stupid stuff like that so they can look smart on a flocking forum in the middle of cyber space...eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh sommmme peoples children..

Heh, when I saw what he said I just interpreted as him having taken the AP BC test (there's an AB subscore, you know, and many people "get fives on both"), but I think you people are pretty correct in supposing that he's just lying.

It's the "I signed up for BOTH" that's a big warning signal.

Also, my brother right now is in 9th grade taking algebra 2 w/ analysis. He already understands all the math in precal. Is it recommended that he takes the test and skips the class and take AP calculus in 10th?

and this little added portion to add some reality. Pathetic.

As someone who is good at math, and actually DID take AP AB calc in 9th grade and got a 5, I read that post and was like "Hell no you did not." Trolls suck so hard.

that's like saying... i just started playing the violin but i've already gotten into julliard and curtis... i just cracked my egg from the fridge but it's already fried... i just took a basic math course but i got a 5 on my ap calc test. yes, that seems reasonable.

hahah yeah. If he were /that/ good, he wouldn't have been taking algebra 2 in the first place, he would have been bumped up because he is a math GENIUS.

some strange people out there

Notice he hasn't replied....

I just looked at his other posts and he mentions he's just a hs freshman. trying to impress a bunch of people on the internet that you don't even know or will ever meet...LAME!!!
