math classes

How do yours go on order? I guess they vary from state to state.

Here it's Alg I > Geom > Alg II > Precal > Calc

But I've seen
Alg I > Alg II > Geom > Precal > Calc

I think Algebra II is harder than Geometry, so Geometry should be taken after Algebra 2. Weird how some do it the other way.

We have Alg 1, Geo, Alg 2 , Precalc, Calc mostly. A lot of public HS only requires two years of math so I think the logic is that therefore kids should get geo.

i guess the good thing about taking algebra II after geometry is it gives you a good while to forget algebra I first, so it doesn't seem boring when you spend three or four months on stuff you've already done

here it's alg 1, geometry, alg, Pre-calc, Calc, Multivariable Calc

That's kinda weird having to take alg 2 before geometry...alg 2 is more difficult.

For an honors track:
Eighth grade - Algebra I
Ninth grade - Geometry
Tenth grade - Algebra II/Trigonometry
Eleventh grade - Precalc, AP Calc AB, or BC
Twelfth grade - whatever...

For a super honors track:
Seventh grade - Algebra I
Eighth grade - Geometry
Ninth grade - Algebra II/Trigonometry
Tenth grade - Precalc, Calc AB, or BC

Yeah, Algebra II should be taken after geometry. It's way harder.

We have two main tracks. Students either start in 7th grade (6 year highschool) with pre-algebra or if they do very well on a test, with Algebra I, regular or AA. If you start with pre algebra, to take BC in the end, you'll need to skip from pre-cal to BC. If you start with Algebra I you can do either AA or AB calc before BC, taking it in senior year. Some kids who start with Algebra I in 7th grade choose to skip from Precalc to BC because they are either very smart or idiots (I'm the idiot).

Pre-Algebra reg or AA
Algebra I reg or AA
Geometry reg or AA
Algebra II reg or AA
Pre-Calculus reg or AA
Calculus AA, AB, or BC

We also have Statistics AA and AP, but that's not really on the track. People take it whenever they want to.

im on fast track status dododododo

For the regular kids, myself included:

Algebra I
Integrated Geometry
Algebgra II/Trignometry
Precalc

The kids on the "fast track" finish pre-calc in 11th grade and can take Calc BC (might be AB, not sure)

pre algebra
algebra I
geometry
algebra II
functions statistics trigonometry.
pre-calc.
ap calc 1
ap calc 2.

Pre Algebra
Algebra 1-2
Geometry
Algebra 3-4
Trigonometry/Math Analysis
AP Calculus

...yup.

Disregarding tracks, here are the classes a person takes in the order given.

Algebra 1
Geometry
Algebra 2 / Trigonometry
Precalc
AB Calc
BC Calc

Math "electives" in Statistics (must have completed Algebra 2) and Discrete Mathematics (must have completed Precalc). Stat is considered an elective because students taking courses with the acronym "AP" in the name are required to take the AP exam in May. Considering it an elective (or "accelerated", as in Physics B) allows an escape clause for students.

I believe the track at my school is:

Pre-Algebra (?)
Algebra I (Regular Or Honors)
Geometry (Regular Or Honors)
Algebra II (Regular Or Honors)
Pre-Calculus (Regular Or Honors) OR Advanced Topics (?)
Calculus(AB) (Honors Or AP)
Calculus BC

I believe there used to be a multivariable calculus class, but so few kids took it each year that it was deemed not worth it and discontinued.

I don't think Calculus had a regular section, but I am not sure... I think it was just honors or AP Calc AB, though. Advanced topics is for Algebra II kids that didn't feel they were good enough to go to pre-calc. Dunno whether there was an honors section for that, though. Also dunno if it let you continue to calculus, but somehow I doubt it.

Oh yeah, we also had AP Stats. I think it required a minimum of Algebra II completed already to get into it, though.

(Bad) public school:

"Normal": Alg1>Geo>Alg2>Precalc (grades 9-12)

"Honors/AP": Alg1>Geo>Alg2>Precalc>AP Calc AB or AP stat (grades 8-12)

"Super Honors/AP": Alg1>Alg2>Geo>Precalc>AP Calc AB>AP stat (and also AP calc BC self study along with AP stat for students like ME!) (grades 7-12)

well my schedule is and some are done: Geometry --> Alg 2 --> AP Cal/ Stat and im graduating junior year.. well im on track don't know if they're going to let us graduate next year or not

Normal-
Alg I -> Geo -> Alg II -> Precalc or AP Stats (Where normal people stop in 12th grade)-> AP Calc AB or Stats -> AP Calc BC or Stats

Math A/B, Math BH, Math 12H, AP Calculus

My school is weirdd =)

This is my schedule:
9th: Honors Algebra 1
10th(currently): High Honors Algebra II/Trig & High Honors Geometry/Analytical Geometry
11th:AP Calc AB
12th: AP Calc BC (it's a requirement to take AB before BC)
