Math Course HELP UCLA

I need help regarding math courses at UCLA…

I’m an incoming freshman at UCLA, an applied mathematics major.
My dilemma is that I’ve taken too many advanced math courses in high school that have carried over to UCLA, and now I’m not allowed to go back to these courses and MUST take the next level course.

As a high school sophomore I took AP Calc A/B and got a 5 which satisfied Math 31A at UCLA.
Junior year I took Calc C/D at SDSU and passed with A’s which satisfied Math 31B, 32A, and 32B at UCLA.

Because of this, the math I’m required to take as a freshman at UCLA is 33A, and they will not allow me to take the previous courses because it would be “doubling units”.

Problem is, it’s been a year since I’ve studied those topics and I’m not sure if I’m ready to take 33A without really remembering much content from 32B and before.

My NSA suggested not taking a math course for first quarter and possibly auditing 31A and etc if I was worried.

Is there no other way to take those courses? Could I somehow remove my credits from SDSU?

@yerinable You can enroll in those courses but you won’t get credit. If you got As you’ll be fine. Math 33a doesn’t use any math from the previous ones at all. It’s a whole new way of thinking as Ucla treats 33a almost like an intro to proofs class. Very little matrix calculations. Knowing vectors is the only prior info you’ll need to know. Sounds like you’re coming from torey pines hs in SD. Feel free to pm if you’re confused still.

@10s4life Yeah you’re exactly right, I’m from TP and I took C/D with Mrs.Brown. Thank you for your response, I’ve been super stressed out about it and with enrollment in general. If 33A is different with the previous ones, I think I’ll be okay with taking it next quarter. ^^

@yerinable Yeah the TP dual enrollment program prepped you fine. Enjoy 33A and welcome to UCLA!

@yerinable I think you’ll find that her C/D class prepared you very well for UCLA. Don’t stress, you’ll do fine.
