I am wondering what advanced math course to take next year. I am registered for BC Calculus (AP) but am thinking of AB Calc (AP) to ease my schedule a bit (4 other AP classes). I could also take AP Statistics, but don't know if I need a Calc class. I am planning on a science major if that makes any difference. Does anyone know the requirements for Wash U. on this? Thanks!

I registered for Calc BC, but because of our inadequate counseling department, I had scheduling conflicts (like always) this year, and dropped it to take Calc AB. I got into WashU, regular decision, and with a pretty nice scholarship. My test scores are only 2280 SAT and 33 ACT, but I had hellas extracurriculars, community service, and worked my butt off my entire high school career up until senior year, and I go to a pretty competitive, good public high school. So from my experience, dropping down a level didn't affect me. But thats just me.

I would take BC because once you get to college, you can skip over more classes. Also BC scores have more importance than AB.

I also had to take Calculus AB instead of Calculus BC (my school scheduled BC and AP English at the same time). I got in. I took the AP Test in BC, though, after studying over the weekend for the extra topics, and am almost positive I got a 5. It was worth it to take BC, obviously, because a 5 would get me 3 extra credits, and even if I got a 5 on the AB subscore and a 4 on the whole test, I would still get credit for getting a 5 on the AB test. So, I would reccomend taking the AB Class and the BC test. It's only a little extra material that you would have to learn.
