Math Course

Hello All,

I am planning to skip geometry honors to do algebra 2 honors in 9th grade or to skip algebra 2 honors and take pre-calculus honors in 10th grade. Do you have any sort of suggestions as to what I should do? ( I intend to skip these courses by taking CTY Courses )

Thanks to all in advance.

Between the two it is better to skip geometry, since you need to have a really strong foundation in algebra 2 for upper level math. Personally I skipped geometry and was fine, I just had a private tutor for like two months and taught myself the rest. That being said I see no reason for why you need to skip a math class, geometry freshman year is not bad.

Don’t skip either. If anything take pre-calculus online and go into AP calc junior year. Geometry, although not needed for upper maths (besides some of the formulas for calc (basics like volume, surface area)), is key for the SAT. Algebra 2 is super important for pre-calc and AP calc AB/BC as well.

Hi! I’m currently a freshman, and I skipped geometry and am now enrolled in algebra2/Trig. I’d definitely recommend skipping geometry over algebra 2…
