math department

<p>I want to transfer to SBU as a sophomore standing at spring 2010 , I am interested in the math, I know that the math dept ranking is high , but they don't offer some course like combinatorial , mathematical finance , actuarial , so I don't know if the math dept is good ? actually I am from China and I am a resident in Nevada now , is it hard to get into SBU from Nevada ? ( my GPA is 3.6 with 28 credits and 7 more credits in progress , the classes I took and I will take :
summer 2008 : ESL ---B
fall 2008 : 1. CALCULUS 1 ----A
2. GENERAL PHYSICS I ---A
3. ENGLISH ---C+</p>

<p>spring2009: 1.FINITE MATHEMATICS---A
2. CALCULUS II---A
3.GENERAL PHYSICS II ---A
4.INTRO TO STATISTICS---B</p>

<p>fall 2009 : 1. CALCULUS III
2. PRINC-MACROECONOMICS
Foreign language : Chinese , English , some Japanese . but I don't have TOEFL score .
so do you have a shot for the SBU ?

<p>Courses like the ones you’re looking for would be in the Applied Math and Statistics (AMS) department, not the other math department (MAT). Check out their course listings too.</p>

<p>As far as transferring, the minimum requirement is 24 credits with at least a 3.0, so you should be okay for admission. Get that application in!</p>
