I applied to UCLA, UCSD, and Berkeley recently as a math/econ major. I know the major isn't too competitive, but I am thinking I might get a B in Calc III. I have A's in all other prereqs including Linear Algebra which I am currently taking. I will be taking D.E. next semester along with a discrete math course. Does anyone know if this will be a big deal considering my GPA is 3.85ish after the B in Calc III?

I’d say your in. average admitted gpa for that major is like a 3.5, and from what I have heard people have gotten in without even finishing pre reqs

I applied at berk for econ, did they have a math/econ major?

no, but berkeley has a applied math with concentration in Economics

damn, that’s not on assist. I applied for math/econ or econ with quantitative analysis everywhere except berk because I didnt see it… arg

edit:
all good still in college of letters and sciences so I could still get into it if I get accepted for economics… woot

i hope you guys know that the quantitative econ courses are nothing like the CCC math/econ classes you take.

ya I am aware, my brother is a senior analyst at a decent sized corporation. he was an econ major with quant analysis so I’ve seen tidbits.

I’d rather use it to learn market flows to help me with financial analysis.
