I know that this is not the ug forum, but in the past this place has always been the most helpful. After doing some research I found that most econ programs require linear algebra, diff. equations, and a few stats courses, and I was wondering how much more math would be needed to pick up a minor? Would it only be a few more classes? I know that it really depends on the school; I am interested in attending a UC.
Thanks!

I'm most likely minoring in Econ and I only need to take two Stats courses. I think it varies from school to school.

To minor in math, it's likely enough or nearly enough to take basic linear algebra, basic differential equations, and statistics courses, though you may need to take some courses in (modern) algebra, analysis, or topology.

I can only speak for my school (not a UC), but a math minor requires 4 additional math courses beyond that which is already required for your major. Being an engineering school, the least amount of math any major requires is Calc I-III and diff-eq, so a math minor requires 4 classes beyond at least diff-eq. At the local state university, just getting up to diff-eq will get you that minor.

cool, thanks for the feedback
