math grad (Stanford) - who reads?

Hi,

Just curious -- who reads these applications anyway? I am particularly interested in Stanford since it is coming up (and awesome!)

Thanks.

Almost certainly multiple math professors?

Faculty members in the department where you’ve applied.

Some programs have a faculty graduate student admission committee that does first readings, while others pass out applications to faculty members who work in the applicant’s stated research interests. Some may simply divide the applications among faculty members.

Unlike undergraduate admissions, the graduate admissions office does not participate in decisions and instead mostly assembles and records applications, sending them out when finished to the appropriate program.
