math help need your help and expertise

Hello all freshman here preperaring for the state assessment test , was doing some practice runs on few tests.I have 3 questions(Q43, Q45, and q45) from the link below , that I may need you help.

<a href="http://fcat.fldoe.org/pdf/releasepdf/06/FL06_Rel_G10M_TB_Cwf001.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://fcat.fldoe.org/pdf/releasepdf/06/FL06_Rel_G10M_TB_Cwf001.pdf</a></p>

Q43, In this function table, what is the value of y when x = 3?

IMO: I think we have to come up with some sort of formula to identify the y value, I have tried to add/sub/mul/div the X value, but no luck.Maybe you can take a look and help.

Q45: An artist created this pattern by inscribing squares….

For this problem I do not want to use the tradtional method of listing all values as being thought in schools. But use the geometric sequence formula a^n=a^1*r^n-1 (^= to the power) .Is it advisable , I tried but did not get the correct ans.

Q48: Mr. Soto drew a design for a quilting pattern…

Used the formaul to get each angle(135) for the smaller pentagon, also know the properties of the isos trap., legs =, diag’s =, sum of base ang and the other ang =, as well base angl.s being = as well, did I miss anything appluying the concept?
Pls. adivse thanks much,

thanks and regards.

Q43 by looking at the table you will notice that f(x)=(x-1)^2. That’s enough to solve for f(3).

Q45 is a sequence where term n = (term n-2)/2. You can solve it from there.

For Q48 I would make an isosceles triangle by starting at the center of the octagon and drawing two legs that connect to the isosceles trapezoid with y. You know the central angle of the octagon, so you can find the base angles of the trapezoid, and therefore you know the value of y.
