Math Help?

and yet again i have more math questions -__- thanks in advance~

1) A cylindrical oil drum has an interior height of 8. The bottom of the oil drum is perpendicular to the height and has an interior diameter of 4. What is the distance from the center of the bottom of the oil drum to a point on the circumference of the top edge?

(A) 4
(B) 12
(C) the square root of 48 (apx. 6.93)
(D) the square root of 68 (apx. 8.25)
(E) the square root of 80 (apx 8.94)

2) If a, b, and c are consecutive positive integers such that a<b<c and the units digit of the product ac is 0, which of the following could be the units digit of b?

(A) 0
(B) 2
(C) 5
(D) 7
(E) 9

(The answer to #1 is D and the answer to #2 is E)

For #2
There are many ways to answer this. Since a<b<c and ac=0 that means the units digit of either a or c has to be 0. One option is a=8 b=9 c=10 ( we can see that units digit of b is 9)

Okay, the first one,
you will see that the line joining the center of the base and circumference of top edge

makes a right angle triangle with hypotenuse= distance to be calculated , base=

radius of base and perpendicular= height of cylindrical drum

h=8 r=2

d= sqrt ( 8^2 + 2^2) = sqrt ( 68 )

Oh I see! Thank you! :smiley: I love how people on forums make these questions as easy as 1+1 and not make me feel like a complete idiot haha ^^"
