MATH HELP

Hey guys would someone help me answer this:
If the measures of the acute angles of a right triangle are in the ratio 4:5, what is the measure of the smallest angle in the triangle?

(a)10
(b)20
(c) 40
(d) 50
(e) 80

It would be C (40). Since its a right triangle, the measure of one angle is 90 degrees. The other two angles must also equal 90. Since they are in a ratio of 4:5, one is 40 while the other is 50. 40 is the smallest angle. If you want to do the algebra for it, it becomes:

4x + 5x = 90
9x = 90
x = 10
4x:5x
40:50

THANKS A MILLION! :smiley:
