Ive noticed a lot of people here who are taking SAT IIs but they take both Math I and Math II along with a third one. Right now, I have taken 3:

Chemistry - 800
Math II - 800
Spanish - 650

My Spanish score isn't too hot, so I decided to retake it, but I noticed a lot of people taking Math I. So my thinking was to take the easier Math I and pull an amazing score on that to cover up the Spanish test. But, I don't know if colleges accept both Math I and II. Thoughts?

No point in taking both. Just retake Spanish or alternatively Physics, Bio, English, or History. Or don’t bother taking any more subject tests. 650 isn’t that bad a score if you aren’t a native speaker

Judging from you scores, you are probably going to be aiming for an 800. Math I is extremely difficult to get an 800 because you can’t miss any questions. I think colleges accept both Math I and II because they are two levels of difficulty. I would just retake your Spanish test though; it might be easier to raise your score.

umm…I wouldn’t take both because colleges can see all your SAT scores (unless you are class of 2010). So, if you divide your study time and only do mediocre on the tests, then that won’t help you. I think you should definitely focus on only one test, and then get a really high score. I still think you should retake Spanish.

Do not take the Math I. It won’t count. Colleges that require IIs require that they be in different subjects. If you submit a Math I and a Math II that counts as only one SAT II.

Next, most colleges that require IIs require only two. So whether you should even take another II depends on where you intend to apply – Harvard, Princeton and Georgetown require three. It is a misconception to assume that a college that requires two SAT IIs will give you any extra points for submitting more. Generally, they consider the highest two and ignore the rest. So taking more than number required is recommended only if you have a bad score that you need to replace with another.

What if I am applying to a college that requires 3? (i.e. Harvard, Georgetown, Yale, etc.) Will the Spanish score really affect the overall perception of my SAT II scores? In other words, should I really bother retaking it?
