Math I/Math II Question

Hello all!

My question is this: I've been reading around the forums and on the internet, and I've come across quite a lot of people saying that taking the Math I SAT Subject Test is a waste of time. I am currently enrolled in a Pre-Calculus class at my school, but we haven't covered Trig yet--as that is our next topic, and I know a decent amount of questions on the Math II subject test cover Trig concepts. I signed up to take Lit and Biology E/M, but after taking a Biology practice test and scoring a (yikes!) 350, I decided that I would be better off taking the Math I subject test instead.

Now what I was planning on doing was taking Lit and Math I this time around, and taking Math II and a science (maybe Chem) in say, May. Is it advisable for me to do this? Should I just take Math II this time around and retake it later if I don't do well? Is it okay for me to take Math I if I intend on taking Math II later, anyways? Thanks for your help~

I believe that if you take both, the Math I score won’t really be looked at at all. It’s so close to the level of the SAT Math that it doesn’t provide new information.

It can’t possibly hurt, but I doubt it would help much, unless you got a bad Math II score.

I’d advise you to wait until May to take Math II. It won’t hurt to postpone it a few months, and the trig is the trickiest part of it IMO.

I’m not an expert but I have taken Math I for real and one or two Math 2 practice tests coming from a somewhat weak precalc class. I scored much higher on Math 1.
See if you can get out a Real SAT II book and take both tests. If you’re good on Math 2 except for the trig then study study study.
Or take Math 1 and if you get a great score go with it. No sense taking Math 2 if you think you won’t do well.
