Why is it that everyone I know takes Math II instead of Math I??? I've heard Math I is harder but the percentiles are higher for lower scores...just wondering?

there's a harsher curve for Math I, since it's easier. Since more people get 800s in math 1 than in math 2, those that miss even a single question cannot get an 800, while you don't need to answer every single question correctly in order to get an 800 in math II, since less people do so. The percentage of people who get 800s are around the same, its just that more 800s from math II comes from 1 or 2 wrong, whereas all 800s in math I comes from -0

Math I has a harsher curve, and math II has a more generous curve. Content wise, Math II is more advanced. So if you're very familiar with pre-calc, then take Math 2. Math I, on the other hand, tests basic algebra- but the questions tend to be less straight froward than Math II and more similar to SAT math. Whether you should take I or II depends on which type of math you are more comfortable with, but most people generally take math II because you can use calculator shortcuts.
