I'm retaking the math ii sat 2's next year and i want to raise my score if possible to an even 800 or the best i can do. To anyone that has gotten 750 or over, do you have any study tips i.e. a prep book or to study problems elsewhere
i'd appreciate the advice =/

I think the Barrons SatII prep book for math is harder than the actually test, and that what I used. I think that the most important thing is taking practice tests, the more you take them the better.
For me, my first test (a practice one) was only like a 650 but by the time I took the real SatII i pulled off a 770

I used princeton review. Did all the practice tests. Got an 800.

Barrons was a waste of time...with it i barely cracked 750..but got an 800 on the real deal

my suggestion is go to school and ask ur teacher for an Alg. I, Alg. II, Geometry, and Trig. book and go through and try to solve as many different types of problems as possible. The most important thing is remember all the things that you once learned, but probably never used again.

I used Kaplan for an 800. Did two practice tests and made sure that I thoroughly reviewed all material that I got wrong or was questioning. As far as I remember, there was nothing on the test that wasn't covered in the review book. Good luck!

Use the Princeton. I borrowed the Barron's, and it was CRAZY HARD - missed like 8-10 on each test. Also looked at the Real SAT IIs Book and got an 800. I got an 800 on the real test.

My friend used Kaplan and also got an 800. My friends and I have a test-prep brand competition, one likes Kaplan, one likes Princeton, and I used to like Barron's, but I think it's too hard and am slowly switching to Princeton.

even mcgraw hill works pretty well. just watch out for barron's because it overpreps you. princeton review works very well too.

which princeton review book is it? i can't find one specifically for the level 2 math. Theres some math workout book, looks pretty good. I used the sparknotes book and it had some good lessons, but the practice tests are substandard...

Princeton Review is a good book to use. I'd also advise you to skip 2-3 questions you are not sure about. That's how I got an 800.

do prac tests..and see what kind of Questions ur weak in ...then focus on those topics ...

How many can you miss to get an 800 and how many can you skip to get an 800?

You have to ask yourself, why did you do poorly when you first took it?
Was it lack of known material? Was it time constraints? Was it just stupid mistakes? Answer this in oder to get yourself better.

i omitted 5! still aced.

these are great posts...btw which kaplan book do you all recommend... one specializing in math ii or. the one encompassing both 1 and 2?

which one of those kaplan books has all the errors? because 2002-3 one has a ton of good reviews while 2005-6 reviews say there are a ton of errors. This doesn't make sense...

I got an 800. I think Barrons is good in that it raises your speed. Other than that, I would just review precalc concepts.

Did three practice tests, studied for four hours or so, got an 800.

You didn't read the big review, this copy is the second edition of the 2005-2006 year, the bad reviews were of a previous edition of the same year.

Even though the name and cover remains the same as Kaplan SAT subject test math level 2 2005-2006 edition, they've corrected all the errors. These next two paragraphs are about what I think happened and if you don't really care then you can skip to where my book review starts.
Unlike Barron's test prep books, Kaplan along with Princeton review, doesn't actually change anything in their newer editions ever year but just the covers with more recent dates on such as 2005-2006 edition in this case, to appeal more people by making them think as if its a newer book with the most recent test information. However, I've compared my edition of this book with my friend's that looked exactly the same and discovered that the errors on mine have been corrected. Turns out that he bought his around April 2005 and I bought mine over the summer.
What Kaplan did was that after they've released the book for the school year of 2005 and 2006, they found out numerous errors in their book and corrected them but couldn't really change anything to distinguish the newer and the older because they don't put the edition numbers like 5th or 6th edition but the years so they couldn't put something like Kaplan SAT subject test 2005-2006 second edition.
