Math II vs. Math I

Hey y’all,
I’m a sophomore in high school, and am currently taking Honors Pre-Calculus. I am taking AP Calculus AB next year, and freshman year I took Honors Algebra II and Trigonometry. I am looking at taking the SAT II Math II test in June. Math is not my best subject, so I am wondering what the differences are between SAT II and SAT I. However, I have several concerns.
Are there any subjects in the Math II test that will not have been covered in Pre-Calculus or before?
Is there a significant difference in difficulty between Math II and Math I?
Do colleges look at Math I differently than Math II on an application, in a significant way?

Thanks so much for your time!

Math II seems slightly harder and more advanced than Math I (not sure how much though, since I only took Math II but not Math I), but it has a more lenient curve. After precalculus, you should have the requisite topics to answer every question on Math II.

Depends on the college, but a few schools (e.g. Caltech) specifically require Math II.

Take the Math II. It covers more advanced topics, but nothing that you would not have covered in precalculus. It has a better curve and is better regarded by colleges (especially if you’re applying to engineering or something similar). My guidance office actually recommends that all students take the Math II instead of Math I, because many students who took both ended up scoring higher in Math II.

Agree with above. The hardest topics are Law of Cosines and Sines on Math II

Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate your advice, and will be taking the Math II test after all!
