any suggestions for the best study books for SAT II math IIC and chem?

princeton review 2c
barrons chem

do only pr and barrons for both

do pr first cuz its easier to understand and do all practice tests as they usually have problems that give new info

then do barrons if u have time esp. for math

dont waste time with anything else

if u do this ull get 750+ on the tests

Don't get Sparknotes for IIC. Doesn't help at all. I used it and got 620 three tests in a row. Then I took Calculus over the summer and didn't study at all after that and got a 740.

Get a Ti-89 if you don't already have one.

Solve( will save you at least 10 minutes of pointless calculations.

is a ti-89 really that great? i'm thinking of just getting a ti-83 because i've heard that it's easier to use and it still has most of the functions that a ti-89 has.

i dont think it really matters which u use as long as u know how to use it

I heard that the Ti-89 really, really, really helps you on the test, more than an -83, but I think an 83 is fairly easy to use in comparison. I used an 83 silver edition for the Dec test.

Definitely get the Math IIC book from Barron's. I can't say anything about Princeton Review because I didn't use it, but Barron's gives you a really solid (over)preparation for the test.

I have a TI-89, as well. For everyone who has an 89, which functions should we make sure we're familiar with and comfortable using?

i thought the sparknotes tests for the iic were actually pretty easy. i took them as a junior around christmas and scored 800s.

ti-89's rot ur brain, they do everything for u so in the end u don't know how to do it urself... math iic 800 with a plastic ti-34 haha

Consider yourself lucky you aren't me. My school has such horrible courses that I can't just refresh myself on these topics, I have to learn most of the chem and all of the Math IIC by myself with just these books. Calculus isn't offered until Senior Year under any circumstances, and we have absolutely no AP courses.

does anyone know if the arco book is ok to use instead of the barron? It gives a lot of problems, doesn't explain much, and I feel like I'm overpreparing with it.

TI-89s are better than TI-83s for calculus; for example, they can do symbolic integration whereas TI-83s can't. The TI-89s also have better graphing capabilities. The Math IIC only goes up to the precalculus level, so a TI-83 is fine. If you have the chance to get a TI-89, though, get one! Most colleges want you to have one anyway.

Math IIC is the easiest subject test. As others said, had you passed Precalculus, there shouldn't be anything you need worry about. As for preparation book, I used Kaplan, did their practice tests and got 770, and got 800 on the real test. I think they're pretty accurate (though the curve in real SAT II resembles more that of the real one).
