hey guys!!

im taking math iic on june 3rd and im having a problem with probability... is it just me or probability is hard for everyone?

on practice tests i get every single probability question wrong. (except for like super easy ones)

i know probability is number of successes over total number, but there are too many different types of probability questions. and there are different ways to solve them, too. that's what makes it so confusing, i guess.

is there any patterns for probability questions or anything that can guide me to right answer?

i desperately need ur help!! thanx

I think having a good background in statistics helps. I was really hopeless at anything do with stats two months ago, but I had this great teacher in my stats course who really simplified things. It's difficult to teach yourself probability, permutations and combinations, so my advice is not to unless you're a genius.

You have no choice, though, since you'll be sitting for it this Saturday. It's probably a good idea to go over permutations and combinations, since the hard questions involve those. Once you learn how to apply them, the questions get a lot easier, because they tend to be formulaic.

thanx for replying!
so there's really no way for me to learn probability in like 3days?
that's.. um, not good. im screwddddd! :'(

it isn't hard. I studied IIC prob stuff the two days before the real thing. Permutations are simple. combinations are too. there are just a few variations ( circular, etc). The trick is just some practice. Besides there are only liek maybe 5 max closer to 3 probabliity questions on teh test. Ignore what the previious guy said. He is just scaring you. You don't have to be a "genius" to self study normal high school topics. Remember, standarized test ->standarized questions->standarized answers. I got a 800 on the thing btw.

junizzle, I know how you feel. Probability SUCKS. But I must say, I don't hate those as much as the I. II. III. IV. questions haha

lol those roman numeral questions should not have a guessing penalty...

Yeah, no kidding. Argh.

I hate Probability... hopefully I didn't screw those questions in the May test... I need a 800.
