Math IIC required?

Hi
I dont know if this is the right place to ask this but here goes

I'm applying to stanford in december but I just learned today that the Math IIC is highly recommended- does this mean it is required?
I am not a good math student (I have always been angular towards english), and I was planning on taking Literature and US History this weekend.

Would you guys recommend taking Math IIC no matter how terrible I am at it because they recommend it? (and when I mean terrible, I mean I'd be scoring in the 500s-low 600s at this moment)

Thanks in advance

the average math level 2 score is 670, so prolly u shouldnt take it

New question then:

Take US History and Literature ? = scores 750+ and 700+ respectively

or

Take Math IIC and Literature? = scores 680-710 and 700+?

If I start studying for Math IIC from today, I may be able to break 700 - a maybe.

Which plan should I do?

I went to a Stanford seminar a few weeks ago and a question very similar to yours was brought up. The representative said that they high recommend students to take the Math IIC, if anything. If you score badly, they will ignore it (since SAT II's aren't required), but would like to see that you have taken it.

I will take the math exam

I appreciate your reply, thank you.

The curve on the Math II is ridiculous, you'll be fine.

Practice for the test - it helps a lot. Some prep books are harder then the real test, so don't be too discouraged. You can take all 3 if you think you will score high on Hist and Lit. But not taking Math II is a bad idea.

uh oh.. i just took math I because i'm just in precal this year and it said if your math background has adequately prepared you. is this bad?

Why don't you take all three? It'll be hard, but at least you'll know that you have two very strong scores and one iffy (at the very least).

Yeah take all three

Instead of studying for math, you can just take practice tests everyday and work on your weaknesses.

Alright I'll take three

thanks for the help guys

Anyone get in even though they didn't take the Math IIC?

I would love to know the answer to the question above as well.

If you really are "averageazn", it shouldn't be a problem for you ;)...
