Math Iic

How important is the SAT II Math IIC to college admissions at the most selective schools eg. the ivies, Uchicago, U Michigan? (especially when you’re thinking of majoring in non-math areas such as International Relations, Poly Sci, and possibly bio).

Why did you mention the Math IIC instead of the Math IC? The IIC test covers more material and the scores are normally much higher than the IC test.

I'm not sure, but I would think that it would count about the same as any other SAT II if you weren't applying in engineering/math/science.

S took both Math tests and scored much higher on IC. He was almost finished pre-calc when he took IIC.

One thing to remember about the SAT tests is that the test takers are self selected. If someone scores at the 50th percentile on the SAT II Chemistry test, they are not average for the general population, but rather average for the self selected people who signed up for that test. Those people are normally very good at Chemistry and probably planning on majoring in it. The people taking the SAT IIC test are the ones who are going to go into engineering.

I had a similar question. I was planning on taking the MathIIC, but after looking at the material, I decided against it and was thus, unable to prepare for the IC. I got a 560. Obviously, since I'm not majoring in anything remotely math-related, I'm pretty sure it'll be ok (That is, after I retake). Our teacher told us that IC was for Humanities/History/Finance majors and IIC for engineering/science.

The average score on the SAT II's differ by subject, but most are around 600. I wouldn't say that engineering majors would have to take the IIC instead of the IC. The scores on the IIC are higher and so it gives the applicant to have at least one really high score.

if you are good at math take 2c yeah dufus is righ
