Math Level 1 and 2 Subjects tests - What to do to get 800?

Hi all,

I will give both of these papers in January.

I know that math level 1 is considered not good, but since I am travelling half way round the country to give the test I feel that I should have a go at it anyway.

As for books are concerned, I have last years edition of Barrons and Princeton Review edition of both subject tests, well the all in one for TPR but you get the gist.

I do Maths and Further Maths A Level as well.

Are there any other books I need to get to get an 800 and what should I be doing to get 800 in both?

I will probably allocate 6 hours a week to the subject tests.

Is there any other material I need to get.

Thank you.

Regards

Nate

I’d suggest the official guide in mathematics 1 and 2 for the previously administered practice tests.

http://www.amazon.com/Official-Subject-Tests-Mathematics-Levels/dp/0874477727/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415503770&sr=8-1&keywords=official+guide+to+math+subject+tests

I improved my SAT Math Level II score from a 720 to a 800 in less then three weeks. Initially, I was studying the prep books, but I quickly realized that was the wrong approach. Do textbooks! Borrow math textbooks from your school’s library/bookstore and do all of the chapters that you are weak at.

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply would you say it is essential to purchse the official subjects tests and/or chungs/kaplan?

Is barrons level 2 10th edition enough.

Thank you :)

@ypmagic Since I will be travelling 4 hours to the centre I would prefer to do both.
Thank you for the suggestions PR guide is easy and barrons is hard I have found.

Thank you :)

And good luck to you too!

Even though you’re traveling far to take the subject tests, I also suggest picking one or the other. Taking both is a waste of time/money, and some math/engineering schools require a math and a science test, for example.

@ypmagic @MITer94 I know that this holds true. But still I would like to give it a go and see if math level 1 is as easy as everyone on CC makes out it is

Math level 2 prep going decent need to learn the hyperbola and bits of the function work and the continuous functions and then practice practice practice until January 24!

Can I ask you, I am in year 13 or how you would say a senior in US, as far as the US tests go I will do math level 1 and 2 in Jan. Then SAT reasoning test in May.

Then if I took the year off after that, I would probably do the ACT in september leaving summer to prep for it and then would I be able to give any tests for consideration, i.e. do any subject tests in october and november that unis would be able to see.

Already paid for the Jan exams yesterday was the deadline!

I would probably take eng, phy, chem.

Are you guys seniors?

@fnaticMSiNate‌ Buy Kaplans, and if you still need practice than get Barrons. Don’t worry about the official practice tests. If you can get a 790 - 800 on Kaplans, then you are basically guaranteed an 800 on the official one.

@‌swimmygirl123

Thanks for the reply, would you believe I have every prep book apart from kaplans.

Anything you would recommend I do now for Saturday?

Thanks Nate!
