Math Level 2 - January

I have a few different answers, but the majority match mine. I'm not certain about the sum above 100 question, and I think I might have got it wrong.

The only two ways to choose two numbers and get a sum above 100 is if one of the numbers is 100, so I thought there were three ways to do that. There are three other choices you can make with the other three numbers (3C2) so I thought it was 0.50

yeah i got .5 for that one too

@tapedDuck,

I believe you got the question about the line segments correct. If I'm correct, the answer is 5C2 = 10

I'm pretty sure im right on the (2,3) one cuz it transform 2 to the right and 3 up

I concur. Substitute in the point 2 and you will get 3 for y because f(0)=0

*equation of circle (thats what i got)
*(2+3i) is a zero of polynomial with real coefficients, other zeros??.. (i put 2-3i)
*slope of line with (0,f(x)) and (pi,g(pi)) - ans: -1/pi (Thats what i got!)
*volume of curve revolution - 18.8 (i think thats what i got)
*person makes $275? per week + 5.5% - how much sales for $500 - $4091(Is that choice number A? cuz i remember i put A)
*height of tree with person in front - 54.8 ft (Thats what i got)
*triangle with 2 angles (30,50) and side AB=10.2 - ans: 15.6 (Thats what i got)
*time for object to fall to 20 ft 1.12 sec (Thats what i got)
*which equation is not equal to the rest (with the -b=a^2...) - E (Thats what i got)
*recursive sequence - 3,6,11,18,27 (thats what i got)
*recursive sequence equation - n^2+2 ( thats what i got)
*k if f(0)=-3 in f(x)=x^3-x-k - ans: k=3 (Thats what i got)
*((sinx)^2+cos(x)^2)/sin(x)=1.61, x=38.4 deg( Thats what i got)
*if f(x) passes through origin what does F(x-2)+3 go through - (2,3) (thats what i got)
*set with elements, probablity of adding to 100 - .33????? (i got 0.5... cuz u can add 2 of the 5 elements, 6 different ways. Of those 6 ways, you can only get a sum of more than 100, 3 ways. Soo 3/6=0.5)
*volume of sphere = 75.8cm^3 - ans: radius = 2.6 (I think thats what i got)
*line segment with ABCDE - how many ways to connect pts - 10??? (Thats what i got)
*if abs(x-2)=9, what is abs(x+3) - 4 (Thats what i got)
**A+B+C = 5 (yay thats what i got too)

what about the question with the three sides and we had to find sin(theta)??? i put .5

also, there was one where they gave an equation and asked how many lines can be drawn on teh xy-plane that do not intersect the line - i put 3 since it had 2 vertical asymptotes and a horizontal asymptote

YAH that question on how many lines can be drawn..
I put 2.. because there were 2 vertical asymptotes and no horizontal asymptote... what was the horizontal asymptote, tapedDuck?

i put 2 because the horizontal asymptote was crossed in the middle

Can you refresh my memory about the question with the three sides? As for the question with how many lines, I believed it was 2 because a horizontal asymptote can be crossed.

what about lne=e^-x? you had to solve for lne

is it 1.00?

for the question with three side, u would use the cos law and u would find that the angle is 120. so sin 120=0.58

agh law of cosines DAMN

i believe the lines one was something like x/((x^2)-1)

the horizontal asymptote was y=0 or something, it better not have been crossed... i already know i got 3 wrong

does anyone remember what the question asked for that one??

hmm so i have omitted 2,
got one wrong so far

crap

I believe sin(120 degrees) = 0.866

x/((x^2)-1)...
uhm vertical asymptotes=1 and -1..
horizontal asymptote crosses at (0,0)

so the answer is 2?!

im not sure. i put two because the horizontal asymptote was crossed in the middle.
