Math Levels 1 and 2

I have a couple questions:

What's the difference between the Math Level 1 and Math Level 2 SAT II's? What I mean is, what is the difference in topics, and does the Level II look better than the Level I to colleges?

I want to take one of the two in December and I am taking pre-calculus right now. I know that Level II does involve some pre-calc questions on it, so should I wait to take the Level II toward the end of the school year and take the Level I in December??

Level I isn't considered by many top colleges. Level 2 shows a greater knowledge of math (slightly more advanced) and has a much nicer curve.

Math II has subjects in Pre Calculus

So should I wait to take Level II until later in the school year?

Yes, wait until you finish Pre-Calc. Math II is easier to score a perfect on due to a semi-generous curve, hence the average score to be much higher than Math IC. Some selective colleges only look at Math II, while others weight Math II slightly more advanced; however, this is not the case for all schools, as schools such as MIT weigh them equally.

Math II covers a lot of Pre-Calc, and a slight bit of limits, which is arguably a Calc topic (very easy limits though).

Alright. Thanks. I'm working toward NYU by the way.

well a really strong SAT I score also shows a great aptitude for Math...

because the curve is so disastrous

Well I don't think I'll have a problem with that because last year I came in the 94th percentile on the PSAT.

I took the Math Level I SAT II in freshmen year without studying. Hug mistake. I got a 510. Plus there was quite a bit of material I hadn't learned yet. But I'm pretty sure I know the material now. I might take the Level I in December and take the Level II in the spring if I feel.

Correction: 94th state percentile and 93rd national percentile.
