I am deciding on whether or not to take the math 2 subject test. I only want to take it if I can get a good score. Currently I am in Pre-calculus, and I would be taking the test this summer. I got the Barons math 2 subject test book and got a 580 on their diagnostic test. After studying, would I be able to get up to at least a 700? Also, I have heard the Barons math2 book is much harder than the actual test. Is this true? if so, what would a score on a barons test be compared to an actual test.
I studied with princeton review book but i have heard the barron book is harder…
I was in AP calc when i took it… beginning of the year (november)… I am pretty decent at math, but honestly, didn’t study much…
Go through one test and see what you can do, then go back to each question you got wrong and really learn the concept, then take the test again, but NEVER GUESS, see what you got…
I left 5 answers BLANK and got an 800.
Good luck!
Thank you!
The Barron’s Math II tests are insanely hard! I was getting 590s-640s with no improvement. Nailed the actual test with a 790.
Once you finish precalc, you will be all set to take the test. Try taking some official practice questions given by collegeboard, as those are better at predicting difficulty of the exam.
@anxiouswreck I got a 650 on my first Barron’s test. Is the real test easier in that it’s more straightforward?
If you want to judge your score, get the official study guide with 4 real tests.
@cardwellek WATCH OUT. Before taking the math II subject test, I also read from many CC posts that Barrons is an overkill prep book. I took the June 2, 2017, math II test– it was, at the very least, on the same caliber of difficulty. Under testing circumstances (stress, anxiety, etc), the test certainly felt like it was more difficult than Barrons.
Several of my friends who took that test agreed that it was equal in difficulty to Barrons. I took the subject test after I took AP Calculus, which definitely helped. That’s what I would recommend.
