What are you interested in doing after undergraduate?

maybe research in math, or maybe working in a business firm. I'm not really sure about what I will do after undergraduate at this point.

thx

Berkeley's math program is arguably one of the best in the country. Not so sure about Columbia, but science/engineering/math are really strong at Berkeley -- again, among the top five in the country.

Yeah, I'd def do Math at Berkeley, over Columbia.

thx for the response. really helpful

I'm a big fan of Cal, and Berkeley math is one of the tops in the country, no doubt -- but those are graduate school rankings. Columbia's math is in the top ten, rather than top five, but it is a much more undergrad-oriented program than Cal's. But is it math you're talking about -- meaning abstract and proof based -- or applied math?

If you got into Columbia SEAS, you are talking about an applied math major. I'd suggest you take a look at the online directory of classes, where you will see a long list of professors offering undergrad research to sign up for. Take a look at the class sizes, and compare them to Cal.

You would have a much more personal experience in applied math at Columbia than at Cal. How much that is worth is up to you. Also, when you say business, do you mean finance? In that case, NYC internship possibilities might also enter into your thinking.
