Hey,
Okay so I'm interested in majoring in Math (not sure pure or applied), and I would like to restrict my search to the Northeast, preferable between NJ to MA (like PA, NY, Connecticut, Rhode Island) but I'm not too picky as long as it is somewhere in the Northeast.
Thanks

MIT is the obvious choice, but you also need really good qualifications to be admitted. Brown's Applied Math major is also reputable. With a major as versatile as Math, any of the Ivies will serve you well. If you want a personal learning experience, look into the top LACs, like Williams, Amherst, and Swarthmore.

If you're looking for schools with safer admissions, take a look at some of the lower-ranked LACs, like Hampshire, Haverford, and Bucknell. Carnegie Mellon also has a reputable Math department.

NYU by far.

yes I forgot to say I was looking for a list that has more 'realistic' colleges, like not HYPS/the higher ivies. Can someone help me construct a list that has differing levels of difficulty for colleges with strong math programs.

Rutgers, SUNY Stony Brook, and Penn State would all be worth looking in to.

Williams, Brown, Bowdoin, Bates, Middlebury, Holy Cross, Trinity

a few schools id look into:

harvard, yale, princeton, mit... cornell, columbia, brown, swarthmore, williams... carnegie mellon, wesleyan, haverford... brandeis, rochester, rpi, bucknell

below that point one would be probably be better off at a rutgers, penn state, stony brook or binghamton than any private thats coming to mind.
