Math Major

We are in the early stages of the college search with my 2 high school juniors. We visited Ole Miss and Mississippi State in the fall for their group visit days. One loved Ole Miss but wanted more information on the Math Department. She is unsure of her major but thinks she wants to major in Math. How strong is the math program? Any positive or negative feedback from personal experience at Ole Miss?

She would like to make another visit in the spring. Is there a contact person who can set this up? DS is a freshman at Alabama. We were given a contact in the Honors College who set up a full day of activities and meetings for him. We were hoping to have a similar experience at Ole Miss. Any ideas?

@familyoffive If you’re interested in the Ole Miss Honors College, contact Mr. Jordan Troisi (jtroisi@olemiss.edu). He can help you get a visit like you’re describing set up with them and the math department. If she’s interested in math, has she considered engineering? Providing some links below:

@familyoffive, dean of the Honors College is Dr. Douglass Sullivan-Gonzalez (dsg@olemiss.edu). Very friendly fellow.

S1 is also a junior interested in Ole Miss for math. He looked at the course offerings for a local private college in MD, and said that he had at least been exposed to everything the math department offered. He realizes, of course, that the college classes would go into much more depth. I think he was expecting more of a selection, though.
