<p>Can anyone here comment on majoring in math at Berkeley? Is it more difficult to get in with math declared as a major as opposed to something else like economics? I have some ok math awards with multiple AIME qualifications, but nothing like USAMO.</p>
<p>If you are applying to the College of Letters & Science (where the math department is housed), it does not matter what you put down as your intended major. Once you are at Cal, it is not difficult to declare the math major. I think all you need to do is receive a C average in Math 1A, 1B, 53 and 54; math is not an impacted major.</p>
