Math Major

Which Ivy would be easiest to get in for math?

Definitely no for Princeton, and most likely Harvard, and Yale.

I would like your opinions. I think Columbia might be the easiest because it attracts so many literature and other majors centering around the core curriculum?

By the way, I plan on switching to premed after i get in.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I see you’ve posted the same thread on every Ivy forum.

So your plan is to indicate Math major –> get into an Ivy, no matter which one –> premed? I think if you’re gonna be a premed, you better start learning to work really really hard instead of spending your time scheming your way into an Ivy. If you’re a borderline Ivy applicant, you might actually find it easier getting a high GPA for med school at a less competitive college. This is how the system works.

Keep in mind certain non-ivy colleges are better than certain ivies. Also keep in mind certain ivies are better than other ivies and hence easier to get into (i.e. I believe Cornell has the highest acceptance rate or something). You shouldn’t have your mindset on getting into a college be “as long as I get into any ivy, I will be set.” That is naive, and you should explore a lot of other great colleges out there (as well as the ivies) to find ones you really would like to attend.

As for Princeton, indeed it should be difficult to get in as a math major. Same with Harvard and Yale. There are many amazing math students here at Princeton.

If you don’t mind sharing, how good are you at math? Have you made USAMO? I don’t know what grade you are, but if you really feel you need to apply as a math applicant and not share your passion for pre-med, you should try to go do a lot of contest math such as AMC. But note this is not really an easy task, and would be much easier if you enjoyed math (not assuming you don’t like math, but just making the point in case you don’t).
