Math PhD admissions/rejections thread

Rejected by Michigan :) now I have heard from 6 of 13.

Me too! Good times... :)

I found out that I am on the waitlist at Michigan. But it's probably a mile long and I'm probably at the bottom of it.

SBU, I would rather live in Austin than in Ann Arbor! (no offense to Ann Arbor as a town, I'm thinking more of the weather...)

Accepted at Clemson and Johns Hopkins applied (1/2 funding.. so no)

Anyone else still waiting to hear official results from UCSD, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Dartmouth and Carnegie Melon? Obviously at this point I expect the answer is rejected, but still if one of those comes through I'll be very tempted to go to that program.

orangelights, i sent rutgers the letter declining their offer today. hopefully you'll get my spot!

Thanks Crispyk!

I posted on thegradcafe that UCSD already sent out 2nd wave admits and probably won't send out 3rd wave, especially as their grad orientation weekend is this week, I told them to take my name off the list. I know Rutgers rejected me already haha, good luck over there. I liked their department a lot, strong top to bottom and really diverse.

Judging from that list you want to do combinatorics?

Yes I’m going to try combnatorics. How did you find out from Rutgers, calling? I think I might make calls Thursday morninng. In any case I’m happy with the combinatorialists at Virginia Tech and Ohio State.

Anyone with any information about CMU, GATech or Rutgers please let me know…“theres a place for us”…

Have you guys decided where you’re going next year or are you still waiting for replies and weighing options?

Decision just got finalized this morning, and I’ll be making everything official later tonight.

Notified UT-Austin a week or so ago that I will be attending. Now I’m trying to figure out what part of town to live in, moving expenses, when to visit to look at apartments, etc.

Afraid to make the decision. Haven’t been able to sleep well at all lately. Has your son decided yet, cookiemom?

Dilksy, curious – where did you end up deciding to go?

Minnesota.

UCSD here. Good luck fellas.

i’m going to upenn. i’m really glad things worked out for you this year, sbumathgrad.

Hey thanks crispyk. Congrats on UPENN, that was probably one of the schools I wanted to get into the most, I really like their geometry program over there.
