I am currently attending a community college and I want to know where I should and can go. I posted a similar thread already, but in the "what are my chances" section. I am passionate about math and physics and I'm doing quite well and am pretty far in my math studies. I am unfortunately far behind in physics, but I feel I can make that up prior to transferring (though not prior to applying). I am more enthusiastic about physics, but clearly better at math. Do I have better chances at a better school as a math major? Also which schools are good matches? I have a 3.4 overall with a 3.7+ in my math and physical science courses. Please help.

UC Berkeley

Are you at American River?

I'm at American River for summer. The majority of my classes ahve been taken at Sac City.

I will definitely look into UCB. What about schools like Reed, Marlboro, NMT? Do I have a chance?

I think you have a chance at UCB.

sweet man, I went to American River. I miss that lil ol college

You certainly have a chance at Marlboro, and you might also want to look at Bennington (nearby in Bennington VT) also. I think that a Math or Physics major would be welcomed, as they generally tend to get more Humanities type applicants.

Mabye you could try the University of Chicago, they have one of the bets math and physics departments in the world and tend to accept a fair number of transfer students. They also have Fermilab and ANL if you're into research (and yes I'm a math/physics guys too).
