I will be studying Biomedical engineering next year at Texas A&M (TAMU), and and have to take a math placement exam before my NSC date of 6&7 june. A couple of my friends are also going into engineering and have talked about taking an "introductory into calculus" class. I am currently taking AP Calculus and have made 93 plus each six weeks. I get the concept pretty well, but im not sure what do to do. Should I do the "intro" class, or go straight into Calculus? What effect will the intro class have on my schedule? Will it put me behind or something? Also back to the MPE, what effect does it have on your schedule? Do you have to get a certain score to get into a certain math class? Any help will be great!!!

Thanks!

Yeah, you have to have a certain score. You can get that info from google, though.

I’d say to not waste your time with an intro course and just go straight into it.

Bottom line:

If you do not pass the math placement test, you must take Math 150 (precalculus).

If you do pass the math placement test, you may take Math 151, or a higher level course if you have AP credit. If you are uncertain on whether to skip using your AP credit, you may want to check the old final exams:

I’m currently a Freshman who was in similar spot. Choosing to take 151 was the right choice for me. If you take 150 you will be a semester behind. You wont be able to take Engineering 111 and PHYSICS 218. You would have to wait a semester to take those as you are required to be in 151 to enroll in those classes.

Thanks guys…took me a while to refind my own post lol.
