Hello!

I still need to take the math placement exam, and the next date that I can go and take the test is August 2nd. How will this affect my enrollment for classes, if A) I fail the test for some reason or B) I don't take it until after my enrollment time?

Thank you!

Scores are posted the next business day, so you should be able to enroll in a math course fairly soon after taking the exam (or when your registration date begins). All students, no matter how low they score, are able to enroll in an introductory math course after taking the exam. The lowest course you could be placed into is MATH 3C, precalculus, even if you “fail” the exam. You are also able to retake the exam after one month, and attempt to score better and be placed in a higher level course.

The last exams for fall are held during the first two days of the quarter, and students who take either of those exams are still able to enroll or wait list math courses for fall. You would still be able to enroll in or wait list a math course after your initial enrollment time begins.

You can find more information on the exam here: [Math Testing and Evaluation](http://mathtesting.ucsd.edu/)
