<p>im majoring in pholosophy but im also going to double major that with bussiness economics. economics is on the list for majors that have to take the exam but not bussiness econ. do i still have to take the test?</p>

<p>You don’t have to take the exam, unless you want to take the Math 3A-B series, which is more rigorous than Math 34A-B. 34A-B uses a book written by a UCSB professor, while 3A-B (from what I’ve seen) uses Stewart’s “Early Transcendentals,” a book that I know that a lot of people are familiar with through AP Calculus AB.</p>
<p>For business economics majors, taking 34A-B doesn’t allow you to take some upper-division economics classes that people who took 3A-B can. (Basically, you can’t take the more mathematics-intensive upper-division economics classes.) Either way, you get the same degree.</p>
